The survey also showed that online banking is not exclusive to the youngest age groups. All respondents under age 55 said Internet banking was their preferred banking method. Consumers over age 55 still prefer to visit a bank branch or use ATMs. Overall, popularity of ATMs declined. This marks a watershed change, said Nessa Feddis, ABA senior counsel. More consumers prefer the speed and convenience of conducting banking transactions on the Internet than visiting their local branch.
